One of the resistance strategies for Palestinian population against the Israeli occupation is the boycott of Israeli products, especially those produced in Jewish settlements in Palestinian territory. Palestinian activists propose the consumption alternative of Palestinian products.
Women’s cooperatives have organized themselves to produce and generate income, so necessary in the difficult family economy. We show the traditional Palestinian food catering cooperatives in Ramallah and the production of olive oil soap, near Nablus.
Income generation represents for these women an empowerment beyond the economic sphere. They assure that since they contribute to the house income, their opinions are more listened to within the familiar scope, not only on the part of the husband, but also of their children.
The soap factory cooperative competes in the market with the Israelian soaps, despite the difficulties becasue Israel controls the 93% of water resources, the entry of raw materials, and all roads.
